Our story
In 1912, Élie bought a large plot of land dotted with fruit trees at the bottom of the Côte Pavée district of Toulouse. There, he built his family house. So Terra was born of an encounter between a family, a district and a story. In 1962, his son-in-law and grandson Henri and Pierre – two visionaries – imagined building houses on these same grounds: dwellings that would use cutting-edge materials. Yet this plan was never brought to fruition, despite being well developed.
It was in 2022, when four and five generations had come after Élie, that Jean-Philippe, Xavier and Pierre rekindled the family project by creating Æssea. With the renovation of Terra and the creation of Aqua, Ignis and Aera, they wrote a new chapter in this district’s story, incorporating twenty-first-century technology while adapting these homes to new lifestyles and environmental concern.
Æssea is for families who appreciate the values of traditional housing that respects nature yet who also embrace modern living.
Æssea has invented a new lifestyle of human values and environmentally friendly comfort. It offers a life that is uncompromisingly simple, based on bare essentials.
Opening up to life
Choosing your house is like choosing your life. To find the place that best suits you is to build your existence with balance and harmony. What could be better for your family than being in a city yet surrounded by trees?
What could be better than seeing your children grow up between a lap pool and a vegetable patch? We cultivate happiness, offering the best forms of openness to the world.
Opening up to the city
Life in Toulouse combines the pleasures of the city and the pleasures of nature. To the south, you are near the untamed beauty of the Pyrenees and the cultural vibrancy of Spain. You also stand halfway between Mediterranean languor, to the east, and the Atlantic’s charming Basque and Landes areas, to the west.
Here, lifestyle, culture and science share the same home. Music, dance, theatre, rugby and cuisine brush shoulders with aviation, aerospace, technology and biomedical research.
In Toulouse, you can savour a surprising blend of old Gascon town calm with the bustle of a European metropolis.
Opening up to the district
How delightful it is to dwell at the bottom of the Côte Pavée district, near Toulouse’s city centre, public transport, first-class shops, fine restaurants and the region’s top schools.
How fulfilling it is to jog along the Canal du Midi in this historical district that has always combined the best of tradition and modernity.
How enjoyable it is to stroll to the Halles aux Grains to hear the Orchestre du Capitole play or to treat yourself to a few gourmet delights.
How fortunate you feel to lead a life among heritage conserved, decade after decade, and the comfort of housing in harmony with nature and modern living.
Opening up to the bare essentials
Why set comfort against simplicity? Or tradition against modernity? Or nature against technology? Or calm against an active lifestyle? We live in peace with ourselves and others by respecting those around us and finding inner harmony.
Today, we no longer want to have to weigh up restrictive options that are not real choices. We want spacious, comfortable housing that is open to nature.
We want it to produce more energy than it uses to be warm in winter and cool in summer.
We want everything. Without compromising on our environmental convictions. We want the bare essentials. And nothing more.
